The Nation's Trade School, and Nothing Borrowed From Anyone Else
The University is the Nation's trade-school and workforce-development system. Its assignment is narrow and it is meant to stay that way: take a person who wants to work with their hands, their tools, or their own book of business, and move them from no skill to a working skill inside a defined number of shop hours. It is not a college in the American regulatory sense, it does not want to become one, and the fastest way to fail the people it serves would be to imitate an institution whose cost structure and timelines are the reason those people are looking elsewhere.Explore Programs↗
What this chapter requires in practice.
It is also a distinct program with its own charter, its own instructors, and its own facilities plan. Trailblazers is the Nation's youth leadership program and is not a trade school. Sole Exchange is a separate enterprise. Little Farmers of the Future is a separate program with its own age band and its own curriculum. Those programs may refer people to The University and The University may refer people back, but they do not share a roster, a budget line, a credential, or a governing body, and no page here should be read as merging them.
On the Nation's six-stage institutional scale — conceptual, authorized, funded, staffed, operational, verified — The University is early. The model, the trade areas, and the instructional standard described on this page are adopted design intent. They are not a running campus with enrolled students. When a trade floor moves from funded to staffed, and from staffed to operational, that change will be published as a status change rather than implied through the copy around it.
